1) In which district to stay in Biarritz

Many of you ask me where find a hotel in Biarritz to be able to visit the city easily without taking the car and to be able to go out in the afternoon on foot. There are two beaches in Biarritz, the Grande Plage and the Côte des Basques Beach (for surfers) and it is between these two beaches that I advise you to stay, believe me, you will be in an ideal location!

Oh yeah, and how do you know that this is where you have to look for accommodation in Biarritz?

I go to the Basque Country very often, so I know the region very well! Rue Gambetta (one of the main axes of Biarritz) passes right in front of the Halles de Biarritz, which is the place where you will find many bars and restaurants with a crazy atmosphere every night.

Biarritz is still a small town, and to go from the main beach to the beach of the Basque coast (surfers beach) it will take 25 minutes on foot without forcing and you will go through Rue Gambetta to get there (unless you want to take your time and walk along the beautiful coast).

The problem in Biarritz (in good weather) is that it is very difficult to get around the city center and the car parks are often crowded.

Here are some directions (with which to park easily) that I recommend to be well located avoiding having to enter the center of Biarritz:

  • The Best Western Kemaris, a charming little hotel between the city center and the Beaurivage district (my favorite district).
  • The Baron de Biarritz is very well located, you will easily find a parking space in the streets near the hotel.
  • For those looking for a very, very good address, but the price goes along with it because it's a 4-star luxury hotel, it's the Radisson Blu with its private parking, read the reviews.
  • Don't hesitate to search Airbnb too!

2) Stay in the Beaurivage district of Biarritz

The Beaurivage neighborhood of Biarritz and without a doubt my favorite neighborhood. The street of Spain that crosses it and the town of this small neighborhood. You will find really cute and unusual little bars, restaurants, merchants.

The “Bibi” neighborhood has an ideal location, a step away from the Basque beach and its incredible view of the Atlantic with its small bar 'Etxola Bibi' where the rule is to have a drink in joy and relaxation. good humor ! The setting is really beautiful and you are a stone's throw from the city center (5 minute walk from Grand Grand Max).

Here are some nice addresses, but know that for the most part it will be apartments, guesthouses ...

  • The Best Western Kemaris, a charming little hotel between the city center and the Beaurivage district (my favorite district).
  • Le Home Saint Jean a very good address, read the reviews.
  • Don't hesitate to search Airbnb too!
  • If you want to pamper yourself, you have the amazing Vila St Michel holiday home, but you have to stick to the budget!

3) Where to sleep in Biarritz - Vieux port de Biarritz (the center of Btz)

Located in the heart of Biarritz, the old port of Biarritz or rather Port-Vieux is a really charming neighborhood with its small private beach. It is a privileged location to stay, but as I told you, it is difficult to access in high season and therefore if the hotel does not offer parking it will be difficult to find a place.

If you still want to stay in this district (the center of Biarritz) and in the high season from July to August, try to arrive early in the morning because once again, access by car is very difficult, you have been warned!

For my part, when I want to stay in the heart of Biarritz, I put my car in the green area (see map below) and walk to the hotel. Whether you choose a hotel in the purple zone that gives direct access to the small beach of the old port or if you choose a hotel in the orange zone (which is still the city center of Biarritz), you will be in an ideal location!

Here are some good addresses in the purple and orange area (Port Vieux district).

  • The bathers' hotel is ideally located in this area overlooking the small cove.
  • Therefore, you must see the Saphir and Marbella hotels, which usually offer discounted prices.
  • Florida also offers a discount, so take 2 minutes to look!
  • Le Argi Eder, just behind Les Halles. They often offer discounted prices, so a must see!
  • Don't hesitate to search Airbnb too!

Feel free to share your tips at the end of the article! Sharing is good!

4) Where to stay to surf in Biarritz

Many of you come to surf the waves of Biarritz and you are right, the coast is magnificent!

If you don't want to cross Biarritz with your big board, you should know that there are two great surf spots in Biarritz, of course, as I am not an expert on this subject there must be some hidden corners on the coast. , I do not doubt.

Anyway, if you come to surf and don't want to cross Biarritz with your surfboard under your arm, these are the areas where you will have to look for your hotel / airbnb ...

  • Don't hesitate to search Airbnb too!

The Maila pension is a very good address located in front of the Basque coast (and its 100 steps).

The Best Western Kemaris located in the Bibi district (authentic and charming district) is really a very good address, read the reviews!

  • Don't hesitate to search Airbnb too!

Surf accommodation in Anglet

Located on the other side of the Biarritz lighthouse, you have the Anglet beach, which is a very famous place for surfing.

This apartment is a very good address, read the comments:

5) Sleep in a house with a sea view near Biarritz

A 15 minute walk from Biarritz (Bidard side) you have the Belle Suite apartment, a very nice address to make your other half dream or if you simply have the means.

Also, right next to this apartment you have another, Edouard 7 (also with sea view) but much cheaper, it can be interesting if you are looking for two apartments next to each other!

An incredible address, it is a house overlooking the sea, it is the Bidard Jaccuzi villa, I let you look at the photos it is completely crazy !! On the other hand, you will need a car or bicycle to get to Biarritz, it is a bit of a walk ...

Another amazing address, Villa Arche:

Anyway, if you are looking for a crazy house / villa with a sea view, you will have to look along the coast as you can imagine, but more exactly between Guethary and Bidard, these are the nuggets. It is in this orange area (see map below) where you should look.
