1) Getting to Venice from Marco Polo airport

  • Transfer from Venice to Marco Polo airport by boat.

It is very simple, as soon as you leave the corridor, take the covered corridor and take the ticket at the blue desk (also take the return, it will cost you less). Open from 8 am to 23:40 pm. Note that in this case you will not be able to use your Actv pass if you have one, it is the Alilaguna company that manages this, and not Actv.

The Alilaguna Arancio line (orange line) connects Venice airport with Piazza San Marco, passing through the Cannaregio canal and then the Grand Canal in Venice. But note that there are other lines as well, the Blue, Green, Orange and Red line. It is up to you to see where your hotel is in Venice and to know where to sleep in Venice!

  • The blue line as you can see passes through: Marco Polo Airport, Murano Column, Fondamente Nove, Ospedale, Bacini, Certosa, Lido SME, Arsenal, San Zaccaria, San Marco, Zattere, Giudecca Hilton, Cruise Terminal.
  • The orange line passes through par: San Marco, Giglio, Ca 'Rezzonico, Sant' Angelo, Rialto, San Stae, Guglie, Madonna dell'Orto, Fondamente nove, Marco Polo Airport.
  • The Red Line: Giudecca Zitelle, San Marco, Lido SME, Certosa (stop on request), Murano Museum, Marco Polo Airport.
  • The green line: Murano, Burano and Torcello.

More information on the official website alilaguna.it/en

/! ACTV tickets are not valid on this line (that is, you will not be able to take the boat between the airport and Venice with the Actv pass), special tickets must be purchased to travel on the Alilaguna line.

If you buy your ticket online through Venezia Unica upon arrival at the airport, and before boarding, you must have your ticket validated at the Alilaguna counter located in front of the Alilaguna boat dock.

Otherwise you have this ticket which allows you to get to your hotel in Venice from the airport by water taxi or vice versa (in a small group).

  • You have this ticket that allows you to get to your hotel in Venice from the airport by water taxi or vice versa (in a small group)
  • These are the hours of 8 a.m. and 21:30 p.m. but also from 04 a.m. to 08 a.m. and from 21:30 p.m. to 23:30 p.m.

2) Use the Actv Pass to get to Venice from the airport

  • Can we get to Venice from the airport with the ACTV transport pass?

You cannot go from Marco Polo Airport to St. Mark's Square with the ACTV Transport Pass (to read my article: Actv Venice Pass). If you want to get to Venice from Marco Polo Airport, take line 5-AeroBus (wait 20 minutes) which takes you to Piazzale Roma. From there you can use the vaporettos with your Actv pass. The bus stop for part 5-AeroBus is at the “Arrivals” exit of the airport.

To get to Mestre from Marco Polo airport by bus with the Actv pass. Take the ACTV lines 15 or 45. But you should know that the ticket price is really cheap, and if you use the Actv pass to take this bus, well, that will activate the ACTV pass… It's still a shame… So think if it's really worth it the sorrow ...

You can also opt for a shuttle service that goes to Marco Polo Airport -> Piazzale Roma (.

To get to St. Mark's Square directly from Marco Polo airport, that is to say without changing bus / boat, you have to take the Alilaguna company boat from the Marco Polo airport pontoon, count € 13 (just to go) So yeah it's expensive, but it's worth it.

/! And in this case, no, the ACTV pass is not valid for this line. Therefore, you cannot take the boat from Marco Polo airport to reach Venice with the ACTV pass;

In fact, only the Alilaguna company does Transfer to Venice airport by boat. As the Alilaguna company is not part of the ACTV Vaporettos lines, the boat connection between Venice Marco Polo Airport and Venice is not included in the ACTV company subscriptions (also for more information).

But you can also get to San Marcos Square (or another) by boat without going through the Alilaguna company!

3) Transfer from Marco Polo airport to Venice by water taxi

You can also opt for a private water taxi (the motoscafo), but this is much more expensive. Account € 120. On the other hand, it is the fastest way (30 min). In addition, it will leave you as close to your hotel as possible.

There is still a cheaper way (33 € / pers), is to share this taxi with other people, or here (read the comments) for the trip Marco Polo airport -> your hotel Venice, and for the trip from your hotel in Venice to Marco Polo airport.

4) Public transport in Venice - Les Vaporettos

  • Abusing vaporettos, but what are vaporettos?

Well, it's just a kind of public water bus. The most desirable seats (especially in good weather) are deck and bow. But a word of advice, take the time to get out of the boat and let the tourists get ahead, you will be calmer afterwards.

I really advise you to use the Vaporetto, in fact it allows you to easily go from one point to another.

  • How many vaporettos are there?

There are 15 vaporetto lines that connect the various points of the city and the islands. Line 1 is THE vaporetto line that everyone has taken at least once during their stay in Venice, and you must! It goes through the Grand Canal, where there are many Palaces.

The line 1 exit is at Piazzale Roma (where buses arrive) and goes to the Lido. Also called the "show" line:

/! Children up to 6 years old do not pay.

/! Line 2 will also give you a very good overview of Venice.

/! to see all Vaporetto lines.

Venice is a city on water and therefore transport is by boat. Also to visit the islands Murano, Lido, Torcello, Burano (house of colors) ... you have no other option.

For those who stay in Mestre (15 km from Venice) they will necessarily need the ACTV pass (read my article - Pass Actv), for those who stay in Venice, it is not an obligation, but I recommend it anyway, you will be a winner unless you don't take the pot ...

5) Transfer Mestre (Treviso Antonio Canova airport) Venice

Several shuttle buses allow you to get to Venice from Treviso airport (count on average around € 12 and arrive in Venice in 50 minutes).

To get to Venice (Piazzale Rome) from Treviso - Antonio Canova - Mestre airport, you can take this bus.

You also have the ATVO bus company that offers the same bus route to Venice Mestre and then to Piazzale Roma in Venice. It is with this company that you will happen if you book the bus through RyanAir. The bus of this company will be waiting for you in front of the airport terminal.

Therefore, you leave Trévisse airport via Mestre, then you leave for Venice, here is the GoogleMap - Transfer Treviso Airport - Mestre - Venice:

To get to Mestre from Marco Polo airport by bus with the Actv pass. Take line 15. But you should know that the ticket price is really cheap, and if you use the Actv pass to take this bus, well that will activate the ACTV pass… Still a shame… So think if it's really worth the hit ...

See the bus lines in Venice, including line 15 (link):

If the schedules do not coincide you always have direct transfer buses.

6) Car and motorcycle parking in Venice

  • Parking for cars and motorcycles in Venice:

Regarding car parking in Venice, you do not have 30.000 options, here is the parking in Venice (it is the most practical solution but also the most expensive, it costs € 26 for 24 hours). If you are looking for other parking lots.
