1) Where is Koh Lipe?

In recent years, Thailand has become more and more touristic. But some islands still resist the invader as best they can. Koh Lipe soon you will not have this opportunity but despite this, you will love to spend a few days there, I advise you to sleep on Koh Lipe 3 nights to relax but especially to enjoy quietly this island which is worth it.

For my part it is on this island where I finished my trip to Thailand, I was there 3 nights and the truth is that I do not regret it. On the other hand you should know where to stay in Koh Lipe!

Note that on Koh Lipe it is not possible to rent a scooter and I think they were right, the island is small and you can easily visit it on foot. And otherwise you have tuk tuk. Note that to get to Koh Lipe from Koh Lanta by boat you will need about 4 hours, so if you are staying there only one night it's a pity.

If you are looking for a French speaking agency to contact the team, they are really great.

2) Visit Koh Lipe

Here are some ideas for things to do on Koh Lipe:

For information, you will arrive by Pattaya Beach, it has two "ports", well, they are more like piers. Here is a video of my arrival on Koh Lipe:

Once you arrive, you will have to pay a fee of 300 baths / person. Then take a tuktuk to get to your hotel, you'll get it for 150 baht, so 3 times nothing.

Once in the center you will find many small information centers to offer you all kinds of excursions / activities.

Koh Lipe is famous for diving. You will find some on the tourist street of Koh Lipe, more exactly on Walking Street, but personally I recommend the best French agency on Koh Lipe (.

  • Rent a kayak and take a ride along the coast of Koh Lipe.

I advise you to do this on the Sunset Beach side, for my part my accommodation at Deccho Beach (which I recommend) offered a kayak but also free snorkels and masks. All in all, enough for a very nice kayak trip!

  • Looking for a dive center on Koh Lipe

You will find several dive agencies on Koh Lipe, especially in the "center". I advise you to contact Antoine, who runs a French-speaking agency (whenever you can). to get in touch with him and his team, they are really great.

3) Which beaches to sleep on in Koh Lipe

You have three beaches on Koh Lipe, the more touristy Pattaya Beach, the less touristy Sunset Beach and Sunrise Beach in the middle. So which is the best beach, the best coastline on Koh Lipe for snorkeling or just chilling out?

Well, I'll let you get an idea through these videos, but personally my favorite was Sunset Beach.

Sunset Beach (for couples without kids), video taken from my Hotel le Decho Beach (which I recommend, but remember to book in advance to have a sea view):

Still on Sunset Beach, in the hotel right next to Deccho Beach, this hotel is called Cliff Lipe (which is exceptional) and you can go eat, have a drink because the view is let's say .... not bad at all;)

Video of Pattaya beach (for party animals, but don't expect a crazy atmosphere either, if you are looking for it, go to Koh Phi Phi):

Sunrise Beach via Zanom Sunrise Beach Resort hotel (for families with kids):

4) Where to stay in Koh Lipe.

I advise you to stay on Koh Lipe for three nights, the island is worth visiting. I don't see the point of going there for just one night, we go to Koh Lipe to relax, eat seafood, grilled fish, kayak, snorkel, swim, watch the magnificent sunsets....

  • By the way, if you are looking for the best French agency on Koh Lipe.

Please note that if you are looking for a bungalow with sea view, you will have to do it in advance!

So where to sleep on Koh Lipe, well personally I recommend Sunset Beach (the purple area) if you like it quiet, if you're going as a couple. I recommend Sunrise Beach if you have kids (orange zone) and PattawaBeach if you go partying.

Anyway, know that the island is really small, so from Sunset Beach you will have no problem to reach Walking Street via Pattawa Beach and that without a scooter (allow 10 minutes walk, a nice to do and redo ...).

Check out Deccho Beach or Cliff Lipe which are located on Sunset Beach, here is a small video:

Check out the Zanom Sunrise Beach Resort which is located in Sunrise Beach, here's a short video below. Otherwise, you have Senrendipity which is really amazing, sometimes they offer discounts, but you'll have to book in advance!

Check out Chareena Hill Beach Resort, which is at the end of Pattaya Beach (to the west). If you want to stay on Pattaya beach, you should know that it's a bit noisier, that the beach, although beautiful, is overrun by boats... But you're close to bars and restaurants. It's up to you to see what you're looking for!

A low budget address and also west of Pattaya Beach is the Daya Resort.

5) Where to go out on Koh Lipe

You won't have 36,000 options on Koh Lipe, if you want to go out, you'll have to go to Walking Street. There you will find many bars and restaurants as well as really nice little shops.

A very nice bar with small impromptu concerts is the Elephant Koh Lipe:

You will find many other bars, but I must admit that this one was really very nice!

This street is not big so don't hesitate to walk along it.

6) How to get to Koh Lipe from Koh Phi Phi, Phuket or Krabi

  • To get to Koh Lanta from Krabi, you can arrive directly by minivan or by boat (900 baths - 23 euros).
  • To get to Koh Ngai from Koh Lanta, count 40 minutes by boat and 500 baths (16 euros).
  • To get to Koh Phi Phi from Koh Lanta, count 2 hours by boat and 600 baths.
  • To get to Koh Lipe from Koh Lanta count 3 hours and 1500 baths (40 euros).

Prices for boat trips from Koh Lanta:

As you can see in this illustration, to get to Koh Lipe you will have to go through Koh Lanta, Koh Ngai, Koh Muk, Koh Kradan and Koh Bulon.

To get to Krabi airport from Koh Lipe, I advise you to take the boat from Koh Lipe to Pak Bara port and then take the shuttle bus, the price will be the same as by boat but personally 3 hours by speedboat. cansa ...

You can book the boat + shuttle bus to Krabi airport directly at the Walking Street information points.

Well there you go, I think you have all the keys in hand to visit Koh Lipe as it should be.
