Guided tour in Amsterdam

Are you looking for a Guided tour of Amsterdam ? Want to learn more about the life of Anne Frank from a passionate Amsterdam guide? In this article I put you in contact with French guides in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. Its artistic heritage makes it so popular. In fact, the city is home to more than fifty museums, which are also the main tourist interests. The most famous are the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk.

1) Private English speaking guide in Amsterdam - Van Gogh Museum

Vincent Van Gogh, the misunderstood man who has become legendary, fascinates the whole world. Originally from the Netherlands, it was unthinkable not to find a museum in his name there. However, did you know that he only sold one work during his lifetime? It is "La vigne rouge", an oil painting made in Arles in November 1888.

If you're only interested in the Van Gogh Museum skip-the-line ticket, get it delivered right to your inbox.

Vincent Van Gogh certainly arouses your curiosity, and I assure you, it was my case! But now, exploring the life of such a character alone, without really explaining it, seemed a shame to me. That's why I didn't hesitate when I discovered Caspar!

Caspar offers private tours (you can book alone or with others) that allow you to better understand the works, as you walk through the life of Van Gogh.

He is a specialist in the museums of Amsterdam, with him you are in good hands. For more information or to book your visit, and do not hesitate to get in touch, or to compare or take a group guided tour (see if it is good).

2) Guided tour of Amsterdam - The Rijskmuseum

The Rijksmuseum means "state museum" and is dedicated to the fine arts, crafts and history of the country. It is the most important museum in the Netherlands, in terms of attendance and number of works of art.

This is typically the kind of museum to visit, but without a guide it might as well make your head spin - there are so many items to explore!

Gaspar responds once again favorably to this request and thanks to him it is possible to understand, acquire and strengthen his cultural and artistic knowledge of a city, and even a country.

Caspar is an educator, loving and passionate. In my opinion, this is the perfect guide if you choose to enter this museum (or any other).

3) Guided tour of the city of Amsterdam and gourmet tasting.

Departure at Westermarkt square, in front of the Anne Frank statue, and we go for a 2h30 visit with Samy.

On the program: a walking tour through the must-see neighborhoods of Amsterdam, with a tasting of Dutch sandwiches A real joy!

Samy will show you the historical sites of Amsterdam, including the lesser known but equally beautiful corners. You will learn how the city, in the past, has played an important role in various fields (commercial, artistic and architectural…). And above all Samy will introduce you to the culture of the city, around a snack break, which I am sure you will like!

Speaking of delicacies, I was able to make some real culinary discoveries! Here are my favorites:

  • Patatjes Oorlog or Patat speciaal: these are French fries, but not just any French fries ... The best in the world! Patatje Oorlog are French fries served with a mixture of mayonnaise, satay sauce, and onion. As for the special potato, it is a sauce made from ketchup, curry and mayonnaise. Side "diet" we are not there, but what we enjoy!
  • Broodje haring: they are small sandwiches made of raw herring, with pickles and onions. Yes, onions are very present, so travel with gum and you will be fine! It's original and is a change from the buttered French ham.
  • Poffertjes: they look like mini-pancakes (shaped like flying saucers), topped with melted butter and powdered sugar topping.
  • Stroopwafels: small crunchy waffles, made up of two glued pieces, filled with a layer of caramelized syrup. (view photo)

4) Guided tour of Amsterdam city center (stories and anecdotes)

If the meal break doesn't excite you more than that, I have a second good plan for you. Marieke was born in Amsterdam, it is her hometown but also her city of heart.

Generally, their visits revolve around the following axes:

  • The historic district (red light district)
  • The main Dam square with its Royal Palace
  • Part of the jewish quarter
  • The pretty little streets
  • Beguinage and flower market

Passionate, not only is she unbeatable, but also very accommodating, it is very important that you have a good time; For example, if you have visited Amsterdam before, she can tailor your tour to discover new things! With Marieke everything is possible, she knows many good places and can even recommend where to eat.

5) Sightseeing in Amsterdam by boat with guide

This concept, to say the least original, will please you, especially if a visit of about 3 hours, on foot, is difficult to imagine.

For my part, I really like this Eco-boat idea that works on the same principle as carpooling: you reserve your place (or your places), and share the trip with other people, on the canals of Amsterdam.

Three guides, to date, offer this tour and inform you about Dutch history and culture. The visit lasts an average of 1h30, but remember to bring a hat and sunglasses, because the reverberations are treacherous!

The real plus: the atmosphere, which I would describe as pleasant, as a small aperitif is offered.

6) Guided bike tour of Amsterdam with guide

Amsterdam combines culture, history, entertainment, restaurants, coffeeshops ... The bicycle replaces the car to the delight of all. In short, it is good to live in the city.

Amsterdam is often referred to as a romantic city, as the walk between the picturesque houses lends itself incredibly well.

But above all, it is a city with a rich historical past, it draws attention and deserves to be visited in the best possible way, with the help of a guide. Only a passionate professional can convey to you the true identity of a place.

Well there you go, I think you have all the keys in hand to make a guided tour in Amsterdam.

Do not hesitate to leave a comment at the bottom of the page to give me your impressions, share a good address (where to stay in Amsterdam ...), a hotel, a bar ... Sharing is good;)
